Gero, Edith, Edgar, and Tasir represent many common characteristics of English learners at different ages and levels of English proficiency. Listening to their interviews gives an indication of what an English learner at each level of oral proficiency can understand and say.
Because Edith is a beginning EL, her audio clip only includes a brief interview. The audio clips for Edgar and Tasir begin with brief interviews, followed by their read-alouds of an excerpt from a book below grade level for each.
